Founded in September
2000 by a dynamic team of high-powered and experienced optical
network specialists, FlexLight's suite of optical access products
leverages leading-edge technology to deliver a solution that
conquers last-mile bandwidth bottlenecks and optimizes service
flexibility.
FlexLight's solution is based on the new ITU standard, G.984.1-4,
for Gigabit PON (GPON) Networks. GPON has been defined within
the FSAN
organization which is comprised of all the major Telecommunications
providers, and is based on their needs for Ethernet and voice
traffic in both today's and tomorrow's networks.
FlexLight's funding of almost $30 million comes from Vesbridge
Partners, Accel Partners, Applied Materials Ventures, Coral
Ventures and Concord Ventures
The company is headquartered in California, US, and has its principal R&D facility outside Tel Aviv, Israel. FlexLight has sales offices in China and the US.

Optimate is FlexLight’s
economical Gigabit PON (GPON) solution, which readily addresses
the service providers’ need for economical and reliable
voice, data and video access over a single fiber access facility.
It offers the benefits of high-speed data over PON, while guaranteeing
the E1/T1 Quality-of-Service voice customers expect from TDM
services and private line tariffs.
FlexLight’s solution delivers E1/T1, POTS, Ethernet (10/100/1000
Mbps) and Video services to each tenant in a building, and grooms
these services back to the central office for hand-off on an
STM1/OC3, E1 and Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) to the METRO network.
Our revolutionary high bit rate of 2.488 Gbit/s downstream and
1.244 Gbit/s upstream covering a long reach network diameter
of up to 37 Km, is unprecedented in the industry today. Optimate
supports full redundancy on the PON network, allowing the broadband
access network to immediately recover from fiber cuts or other
outages in the fiber plant. This SDH/SONET-like recovery feature
